The Communications Department

   We are especially proud of our 22,000 square foot state-of –the –art police and fire Communications facility and our center is often a fast paced center of activity.
   Fifteen (15) Communications Specialist staff our facility. The Police Radio Dispatch facility is a 24 hour, seven days a week operation. The dispatchers use Computer Aided Dispatching, answer 911 phone calls, and answer the Police and Fire Department phones.
   While the Clovis Police and Fire Department’s are our main focus we assist the Curry County Sheriffs Department, monitor other law enforcement frequencies such as State Police and the Law Enforcement Network as well as dispatch and monitor fire frequencies for area fire and EMS services.
   Our Communications specialists work a 40-hour week on 8-˝ hour shifts, with shift rotations every 4 months.
   Our Communications Specialist receive on the job training as well as obtaining a Police Radio Dispatcher certification by attending the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy’s 3-week training program in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
   As with all City of Clovis employees, there is major medical program with the premium split 60% by the City and 40% by the employee. There are 2 retirement plans, liberal vacation and sick leave programs also available.
