Incident Type: Fatal Automobile Accident

On Sunday, October 23, 2011, at approximately 12:24 PM, the Clovis Police Department responded to the alley north of the 200 block of Gary Street on report of a single car auto accident.  Upon arrival of the patrol units, they found a four-door Mercury Sable which had impacted a large tree head-on. 

There was one occupant within the vehicle in the driver’s seat.  The driver of the vehicle had succumbed to his injuries at the scene from the blunt force trauma. 

The driver/occupant is indentified as Hector Cordova-Urbina of Clovis.  Mr. Cordova’s family is being sought at this time with the help of the Mexican Consulate in Albuquerque. 

Although the cause of the accident is under investigation, excessive speed is a factor in the crash. There is no indication of alcohol or drug intoxication.  Mr. Cordova may have a medical condition which could be attributed to the cause.
