Clovis – September 12, 2013 – On Thursday, September 12, 2013, at approximately 8:39 AM, the Clovis Police Department responded to the intersection of Tennessee Street and Mabry Drive on a report of a mini-van versus a motorcycle collision.
Upon arriving on the scene, officers located a white in color Chevrolet Silhouette minivan facing west in the west bound lanes of Mabry Drive and a white motorcycle turned over on its side in the west bound lanes. A man was found motionless in the roadway with severe injuries from having been the rider of the motorcycle. The man was transported to the Plains Regional Medical Center Emergency Room in Clovis by Clovis Fire Department ambulance.
The rider of the white motorcycle was struck from behind by the white minivan, ejected from the motorcycle into the windshield of the minivan and onto the roadway. As a result, the man did not survive the injuries he sustained and was pronounced dead in the emergency room at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis approximately 2 hours after the crash.
The deceased man is identified as 82 year-old Bobby D. Fambro of Clovis. Mr. Fambro's family has been notified of the crash and Mr. Fambro’s subsequent death.
The driver of the white Chevrolet minivan was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center. Although uninjured, the minivan driver submitted to a voluntary routine blood draw because of the nature of the crash.
The crash investigation is being conducted by the Clovis Police Department's Major Crash Team and the investigation is continuing.
