Citizens On Patrol members are carefully selected. Members are trained in
how to detect and effectively report to police officers:
Citizens On Patrol members patrol in pairs using their own vehicles; operate the groups base station; or do other administrative duties to support the program. Members do not intervene in any activity to ensure safety. The Clovis Police Department provides all training, equipment, and management assistance. Citizens On Patrol has been proven effective in numerous cities. Neighborhood Patrol Officers (NPOs) work closely together with citizen patrols, which greatly reduce response time from minutes to seconds.
